On a remote game farm in the heart of the Eastern Cape, the farmer’s wife has a flock of goats which she cares for. When these goats have kids there are often twins and triplets and sometimes the mothers cannot take care of them. That’s when this lady farmer takes in the kids and hand-rears them. These ‘hansies’ are bottle fed with milk from other mothers who are milked daily. This is the same nutrient rich goat’s milk I use in my soap. The next batch will also contain aloe gel from the indigenous aloes that grow here in the rural Eastern Cape as well as activated charcoal and turmeric. Charcoal removes impurities from the skim while turmeric is anti-inflammatory and brightens the skin. Turmeric has been used in skin preparations for centuries. The combination of goat’s milk and aloe is so super moisturising I can’t wait to use it myself.
